Manchester United winger Cristiano Ronaldo has revealed he is close to agreeing a new contract at Old Trafford – just 18 months after joining the club.
The 20-year-old’s performances have consistently improved this season and the Portugal international, who signed a five-year-deal in August 2003, is turning into one of United’s main attacking threats.
“The Manchester United board have already made an offer to renew but I’m trying not to think about it a lot,” he told the News of the World.
“I only want to concentrate on my performances on the pitch.
“My agent Jorge Mendes has spoken with their people and it will be resolved shortly. I believe we will reach a good agreement for both sides.”
However, Ronaldo refused to commit his long-term future to the club, adding: “Nobody knows what will come tomorrow. I like being here, but who knows.
“There aren’t many bigger and better clubs than this one. It’s my ambition to be at a big club. I’m happy but nobody knows the future.”
