Ronaldo's goal was crucial - Neville
Friday, December 01, 2006
Gary Neville felt Cristiano Ronaldo's goal was the crucial moment in Manchester United's 3-0 win over Everton.
After a tight opening to Wednesday's game at Old Trafford, United took the lead on 39 minutes courtesy of Ronaldo's shot from the edge of the area.
In the second half, Patrice Evra and John O'Shea ended Everton's chances as United maintained their three-point lead at the top of the table.
Neville admits Ronaldo's strike turned the game in the home side's favour and he believes United were then never in danger of losing.
"We thought at 1-0, with the way we've been defending, we felt confident we could hold out at 1-0," Neville told Sky Sports News.
"Obviously getting the second goal made it very comfortable for us.
"We have been defending well and we made it difficult for Everton to get chances as well.
"The first goal was the crucial moment in the match."
