Cristiano Ronaldo finds himself at the centre of an official police probe following Manchester United's 1-0 win at Everton.
An Everton fan has claimed that he was stamped on by the 22-year-old Portuguese winger during last weekend's Premier League match at Goodison Park.
Merseyside Police are speaking to witnesses and studying CCTV to establish precisely what happenedCarl Lloyd has alleged the incident took place as he leaned over the advertising hoardings to retrieve the ball when it went out of play.
The 34-year-old joiner from Wallasey, Merseyside, said: "I've been in excruciating pain. I don't know if I'll work again any time soon. I couldn't believe what happened. All I was doing was trying to retrieve the ball."
Merseyside Police are speaking to witnesses and studying CCTV to establish precisely what happened.
And a spokesman for Merseyside Police confirmed Mr Lloyd had made an official complaint and the investigation is ongoing.
