Cristiano Ronaldo needed four stitches in a cut above his left eye after he was elbowed in the face by AS Roma substitute Mirko Vucinic during Champions League victory over the Italians on Tuesday.
According to the Manchester United Web site, Ronaldo told manager Alex Ferguson he was deliberatly struck in the face.
Ferguson quoted: "Cristiano said he was elbowed in the face. He needed four stitches in his eyebrow. It was an unfortunate incident because the game was played in great spirit."
