United thump 4 past Villa Sunday, October 21, 2007
Manchester United came back from a goal down to claim a 4-1 victory over mine men Aston Villa at Villa Park stadium.
Gabriel Agbonlahor headed Villa into an early lead, but Rooney's two composed finishes put United in front.
From a corner in the first half injury time, Pique had his header cleared off the line before Craig Gardner volleyed Ferdinand's rebounded shot in off the bar, to give the Red devils a stronger lead.
Aston Villa's midfielder, Nigel Reo-Coker was booked twice in opening stages of the second-half, and was dismissed by Rob Styles. Keeper Scott Carson followed Reo-Coker to the dressing room after a foul on Carlos Tevez in the penalty area. However, substitute keeper, Stuart Taylor, saved Rooney's spot-kick.
In the 75th minute Giggs danced through the Villa defense from the right flank before seeing his left-footed shot cannon off Martin Laursen and beyond Taylor to complete the United's victory.
United now stands in the second place having collected 23 points in 10 games, while Arsenal dominates the Premier League with 25 points, as it beat Bolton Wanderers 2-0 earlier on Saturday.
