Cristiano Ronaldo believes that Manchester United have a great chance of winning this season’s Champions League.

The Red Devils have blitzed into the last 16 of the competition as winners of Group F, and have so far won all five of their matches in Europe.

Last season Man Utd made it all the way to the semi-finals, where they were beaten 5-3 on aggregate by eventual winners AC Milan, however Ronaldo thinks they have improved since then.

"We have a better chance of winning the Champions League than we had last year," the wing-wizard said.

"We have new players and more players with quality. We have played five games so far and won them all. Everything is in place for us now, so why not? I think we can win it."

Ronaldo was once again the hero last night as his magnificent late free-kick earned his team a 2-1 win over Sporting Lisbon. "It is always important to score," added the Portuguese winger.

"I am working hard to try and better what I achieved last season.

"My confidence is high and I have five goals in the Champions League already - but I want more."

Man Utd finish their group campaign with a trip to Roma on December 12, but with the English Champions already secured of top spot, it is likely Sir Alex Ferguson will field an under-strength team.
