Christmas came early for me - Ronaldo Wednesday, December 26, 2007
Cristiano Ronaldo thanked Santa Claus after his two goals gave United victory over Everton at Old Trafford.
Everton forced Manchester United to work hard at Old Trafford on Sunday, but the Red Devils snatched all three points courtesy of Cristiano Ronaldo's late penalty.
The Portuguese international had earlier given United the lead with a cracking shot from distance.
Ronaldo was understandaby delighted to have won his team the game. “I think Father Christmas gave me my present early!” beamed the former Sporting player.
Those were Ronaldo's 15th and 16th goals of the season, placing the Portuguese at the top of the Premiership scoring charts.
“The first half was not too good but in the second half we played better," Analysed Ronsldo. "We created more chances and deserved to win. We’ve got many games coming up now.
"There is not too much time to rest, so it was important to win to stay near the top. I’m very happy with Christmas coming up but the most important thing is the team. The game was very tough. Everton played very well and created a few bad things for us. I think the lads played very well.”
The win once again puts United just one point behind leaders Arsenal. Discuss this topic in :Forum
