Cristiano Ronaldo has spoken of the massive boost that Wayne Rooney's return has given Manchester United, claiming that United can achieve another league, FA Cup and Champions League treble this year.

The England forward made a stunning impact against Aston Villa in the FA Cup last weekend having been brought on as a substitute in the 70th minute, terrorising the Villa defence and tucking away the second goal.

It was the type of performance that team-mate Cristiano Ronaldo hopes to see more of in the future. "Everyone knows Wayne is a good player," said the Portuguese international.

"He does not have to do anything to prove that. He came on against Villa and did very well. He looked sharp and good - that can only benefit us. We have a strong season ahead of us, so it is important Wayne is ready along with all the other players as well."

"I believe we can do better this year," he said. "We have a good squad, with a fantastic group of players. We have a good chance of winning all the competitions, so why not think about doing that?"
