I'm the best in the world - Ronaldo Friday, February 08, 2008
Cristiano Ronaldo was beaten to the accolade of European Footballer of the Year and FIFA World Player of the Year by AC Milan's Brazilian playmaker Kaka, but the Portuguese star, who has been in sensational form this season, scoring 27 goals in 29 matches, reckons he is the unofficial No.1.
He told The Mirror newspaper: "I don't need to demonstrate that I am the No.1 in the world.
"Over the nine months of the season the work you do will show who really is the best. If I am named the best in the world, it won't be a surprise to me.
"I'm 23 now and I never believed I would find myself in such a privileged position in the world of football, playing at the highest level for a club of United's standing.
"But now I am fully prepared for the biggest challenges that lie ahead for me as a player. I want to win everything - the Premier League, the Champions League and Euro 2008, because I am very ambitious."
