Ronaldo targets Rovers win Thursday, April 17, 2008
Cristiano Ronaldo is hoping Manchester United can take a step closer to the title with victory at Blackburn Rovers on Saturday.
United currently hold a five-point advantage at the top of the table, but that could be reduced to two, if Chelsea win at Everton on Thursday night.
The reigning champions, who face Chelsea next weekend at Stamford Bridge, can clinch back-to-back titles by winning their next two matches.
And, while expecting a tough test at Ewood Park on Saturday, Ronaldo is optimistic of securing another three points.
"When Chelsea dropped points after we won it was fantastic for us," Ronaldo told the Manchester Evening News. "We are in a good position.
"Blackburn will be a tough game, but if we win we have a good chance to win the title."
United snuffed out Arsenal's title challenge last weekend by coming from behind to prevail 2-1 at Old Trafford, with Ronaldo equalising from the penalty spot.
But the in-form winger felt the key moment was the twin introduction of Anderson and Carlos Tevez moments after the Red Devils had pulled level.
Ronaldo added: "We won the game because we changed the players. Anderson and Carlos came on and changed the game.
"It's very important for the team to have those sorts of players to come and change things."
