Thursday, June 05, 2008

The Portuguese football federation has refused to answer any questions concerning Cristiano Ronaldo’s future in their latest press conference.

Ronaldo, whose future has been the subject of hot debate for weeks now, is still the subject of intense speculation over whether the midfielder will remain with current club Manchester United or move to suitors Real Madrid.

However, the national side appear to have become impatient with the constant speculation surrounding their midfielder and have now refused to answer any questions concerning Ronaldo’s club future.

Announcing the details on their website the Portuguese football federation have declared that it would only answer questions that were: “exclusively with the national team.”

Press officer Antonio Florencio also revealed that any announcements concerning Ronaldo’s future would not be coming from inside the national side’s training camp where the player is currently preparing for Euro 2008 with his team mates. He said: “If it's going to (be announced during the tournament) I think it will come through his agent.”

Forencio went on to distance himself and his side from the speculation by saying: “This is the national team. We have no business dealing with such matters.”
