Ronaldo will join Real - Ruud Wednesday, October 08, 2008
Ruud van Nistelrooy has said he is confident Cristiano Ronaldo will join him at Real Madrid.
The Dutch striker left Manchester United for the Bernabeu in 2006, and has backed his former United team-mate to follow him to Spain.
"One day Ronaldo will join us. This could happen next summer, or the one after," Van Nistelrooy said.
Ronaldo has been the subject of almost constant speculation over his future, having said it was a "dream" to move to Real.
However, no move materialised, and United's determination to keep hold of their star asset was strengthened by their fury at Real's frequent public declarations of interest in the Portuguese forward.
Van Nistelrooy also set his sights on winning the Champions League, having seen his former colleagues lift the trophy in May.
"Winning it one day is my dream. And Real Madrid can do it with all their great players," he said.
