Ronaldo For Ballon d'Or - Ruud Saturday, October 18, 2008
Ruud Van Nistelrooy has said he feels Cristiano Ronaldo will be the evenutual winner of the Ballon d'Or...
Despite a fall out between former poacher Ruud Van Nistelrooy and Cristiano Ronaldo cited as one of the reason's for the Dutchman's withdrawal from the following league game and eventual transfer, the Real Madrid striker has said he feels the Portuguese wing wizard will claim this year's Ballon d'Or prize even though his vote would be for current team-mate Iker Casillas.
"My vote would be for (Iker) Casillas," Van Nistelrooy is quoted as saying, "however, I think Cristiano will win."
"A player like him would be good for any team. I think everything about that subject has already been said," he concluded.
In May 2006 Setanta Sports reported that Ruud Van Nistelrooy was involved in a spat with Ronaldo when the Netherlands international criticised the former Lisbon wideman over his selfish style of play.
Cue a training ground kerfuffle that culminated with Ruud telling Cristiano to 'go cry to his daddy (Carlos Queiroz). The remarks were particularly unsensitive due to the recent death of Ronaldo's father.
