Manchester United's Cristiano Ronaldo loves being Premier League hate figure
Not bothered: Cristiano Ronaldo insists being booed only spurs him on to achieve great things with Manchester United.
His comments come amid speculation that Ronaldo's unpopularity is reigniting the winger's desire to join Real Madrid.
However, Ronaldo seems to accept that the boos go with the territorry, saying: "I like people whistling and booing. It's normal for fans to do that.
"There's nothing I can do and it doesn't matter anyway. I have to concentrate on the game, so I don't think about that sort of thing.
"On the pitch I'm a target, but it is difficult to avoid these things. I don't believe that people want to hurt me on purpose.
"In my experience, the game just doesn't happen that way. Truthfully, I've never had any serious problems."
The 23-year-old World Player of the Year winner instead prefers to focus his efforts on United's chances of winning an historic five trophies this term.
Confident the quintuple is possible despite United's recent rocky run, Ronaldo has every confidence that United can make history.
"The guys have to continue playing like we know we can," he said. "We can't relax. Every game is important because if we win, it improves our confidence.
"When we compete for a cup we know we can win it. Last year we did the double and this year we have a chance to win five - it would be incredible if we could win them all
"I want to be in this position - winning awards and trophies while I can. I'm at a club that guarantees me trophies and that makes me happy."
