Cristiano Ronaldo was understandably pleased after Manchester United sealed yet another Premier League title, but the Portuguese admitted that thoughts will quickly turn to Rome and the upcoming Champions League final against Barcelona.
Ronaldo played the full ninety minutes as United played out a goalless draw with Arsenal to clinch their third consecutive league championships, drawing level with Liverpool on 18 titles as the most successful club in English league football history.
“It’s unbelievable. It’s a special day to win the league again. I’m really happy,” Ronaldo said after the match.
“Winning it three times is a fantastic achievement. It’s not easy to do that. It’s what the lads were working for. We will enjoy these next few days but then we have to concentrate on the Champions League. For me, if we win the Champions League it will be unbelievable here.
“Beating Liverpool’s record next year? We have to enjoy this moment. It’s always good to be at the top and we are in a good moment over the last few years. This club must carry on. It doesn’t matter which players are here or which coaches are here - the mentality of this club is always to win. I’m very proud to be a part of the history of Man United.”
