Cristiano Ronaldo's representatives, Gestifute, have denied that the Real Madrid-bound star gave an exclusive interview to the News of the World.
The Portuguese winger was quoted as saying that he regretted publically announcing his desire to quit Manchester United last summer, while he also allegedly stated his respect for Red Devils boss Sir Alex Ferguson.
The quotes first appeared in the newspaper on Sunday and were quickly redistributed by the British press.
However Gestifute insist that the 24-year-old has not, and does not intend to, give any interviews to the press before he has sealed his move to the Spanish capital.
The company said the following in a statement on their official website.
"Given the insistent manner in which the quotes allegedly belonging to Cristiano Ronaldo have been made public, especially in the British media, Gestifute reiterates what we had recently announced: Cristiano Ronaldo has been in silence since he has been on holiday and all the statements are totally false and abusive.
"The best player in the world - who is now resting in the company of his family - has not given, to date, any interview, nor will he in the following days.
"Any quotes linked to him lack veracity and authenticity, so they should not be taken too seriously."
