Rooney - I'm not like Ronaldo Monday, March 15, 2010
Wayne Rooney says he does not think about beating Cristiano Ronaldo's impressive goal-scoring record with Manchester United.
Rooney's brace against Fulham on Sunday takes his tally to 32 for the season, 10-shy of Ronaldo's record from last term.
Although initially claiming that fetecould not be beaten, United boss Sir Alex Ferguson has declared his unstoppable striker a serious contender to prove him wrong.
Rooney, though, says he doesn't really think about the matter.
"It's not something I've looked at if I'm honest," Rooney told Sky Sports.
"Obviously I want to score goals in every game.
"What Cristiano achieved was unbelievable. But I'm a different person and I wouldn't compare myself to him."
Rooney put in a superb display on Sunday as United out-classed Fulham at Old Trafford to go back to the top of the table with a 3-0 win.
Reflecting on his opener - scored within 30-seconds of the whistle in the second half, he said: "The goal lifted us up as a team, it gave us the opportunity to control the game and attack more.
"We knew today it was a big game for us and that we had to win.
"We knew we were capable of winning, we were confident because we're playing well at the moment."
