Ronaldo out for 3 weeks with ankle injury Monday, August 30, 2010
Real Madrid forward Cristiano Ronaldo will be sidelined for around three weeks due to an ankle injury, the Primera Division club have confirmed, ruling him out of Portugal's Euro 2012 qualifiers against Cyprus and Norway.
The 25-year-old sustained the injury during last night's Primera Division opener against Real Mallorca and tests today revealed the extent of the injury.
On a disappointing night for Real and their new manager Jose Mourinho, the Madrid giants were held to a goalless draw by Mallorca, with the former Chelsea coach embroiled in some typically ill-tempered touchline histrionics.
With an estimated recovery time of approximately three weeks, Ronaldo is now set to miss Madrid's next league match against Osasuna.
He will also be unavailable for their first Champions League outing against Ajax, as well as the two international fixtures.
Ronaldo underwent an MRI scan on Monday morning that revealed "a contusion on his right ankle," according to a club statement.
