New contract for Ronaldo
Cristiano Ronaldo has ended speculation over his future by finally signing a new deal at Manchester United.
The Portuguese winger has signed a two-year extension to keep him at Old Trafford until 2010.
Manchester United have been locked in talks with Ronaldo all summer in a bid to tie him down to a new long-term deal.
Ronaldo was delighted to pledge his future to United.
"I am very happy and proud to finally put a deal on paper," Ronaldo told the club's official website.
"It is important for the development of my career and I want to be an integral part of the team that achieves trophies for the club."
Ferguson was pleased to resolve Ronaldo's future and he follows the likes of Darren Fletcher, Paul Scholes and John O'Shea in signing new deals.
"It represents our faith in young players at the club and Ronaldo will develop into a fantastic player," said Ferguson.
"We have worked hard over the last six months on securing a contract, there were no problems but with his agent being in Portugal it was all to do with timings.
"This is great news for the club and for the fans."
